Budget and Finance Committee

The Budget and Finance Committee meets seasonally to review and finalize the annual budget for town services, and other times as needed. During the budget process, which is when the committee is the busiest, the members of the committee meet weekly, working conjunctively with the Board of Selectmen and the Town Manager, in fashioning a budget proposal for town meeting consideration. This is challenging work for the group since they have to juggle the potential impact on the tax rate while at the same time considering the growing costs of town services.

The committee may also meet on occasion to review expenditures throughout the year. This important work assists the Board of Selectmen in monitoring town disbursements and payments and consistency with approvals of town meeting. The Budget and Finance Committee is comprised of 13 members who serve alternating 3-year terms.

Event Location

Meetings are held in the Municipal Building at 225 Water Street. The Committee meets seasonally to review and finalize the annual budget for town services, and other times as needed.
