Selectmen - The Selectmen Board meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. All meeting are public and citizens are welcome to attend. The Selectmen manage the Town of Skowhegan with the help of a Town Manager (Phil Tarr). There is a public item on every agenda for anyone interested in talking to the Board.
Assessment Review - The Board of Assessment Review is charged by Maine Statutes to independently review appeals of property assessments that have been determined by the Board of Assessors.
Assets Building Committee - The Assets Building Committee is a small group of concerned volunteer leaders and citizens seeking to encourage as many groups and individuals as possible in SAD #54 to intentionally build strengths (assets) in youth involvements and in youth. The ABC has acquired funding for an initial survey for 6th, 8th and 11th grade students to be given this Spring. The committee’s challenge: give birth to unique intentional asset building efforts in each of the six communities of SAD # 54 with the best volunteers, resources and imagination that we can gather.
Board of Assessors - The mission of the Skowhegan Board of Assessors and the Assessors’ Office is to maintain fair and equitable assessed valuations and accurate ownership information that are the basis of the allocation of municipal property tax burden in accordance to state law.
Budget & Finance - The Budget and Finance Committee meets seasonally to review and finalize the annual budget for town services, and other times as needed. During the budget process, which is when the committee is the busiest, the members of the committee meet weekly, working conjunctively with the Board of Selectmen and the Town Manager, in fashioning a budget proposal for town meeting consideration.
Cemetery Committee - The Cemetery Committee meets as needed during the months of April to October. These meetings are open to the public. Meetings are held in the Municipal Building Council Room, 225 Water Street, at 7:30 am. The committee oversees the care of the following cemeteries: Southside Cemetery, Main Street; Northside Cemetery, Madison Avenue; East Skowhegan Cemetery, Oak Pond Road; Pooler Cemetery, Oak Pond Road; Malbons Mill Cemetery, Malbons Mill Road; Larone Cemetery, Larone Road; Old River Road Cemetery, East River Road and Old Bloomfield Cemetery, and Waterville Road.

Conservation Committee - The Conservation Commission meets the first Tuesday of each month. This is a public meeting and citizens are welcome to attend and participate. If you are interested in environmental conservation issues please join in.
Community Development - The CD Board meets as needed for projects. All meeting are public and citizens are welcome to attend. The Board is working to improve the Housing conditions in the Town of Skowhegan. They manage the Single family and Rental Housing Loan program for the Town of Skowhegan. All Low Income families and elderly are qualified.

Heritage Council - The Heritage Council meets the third Tuesday of each month. This is a public meeting and citizens are welcome to attend and participate. If you are interested in historic preservation or documentation please join in.
Lake George Regional Park - Lake George Regional Park is a day-use park owned by the State of Maine and leased by the towns of Skowhegan and Canaan. The park is managed for public use by Lake George Corporation, a nonprofit organization. The Town of Skowhegan appoints 5 members to the Board and the Town of Canaan appoints 5 members.

Park Commission - The Commissioners meet 4 times a year between April and September. Meetings are called by the Chairman as needed, meetings are held at the park unless moved for rain. The commissioners oversee Coburn Park and other small park area throughout Skowhegan.
Planning Board - The Planning Board meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. This is a public meeting and citizens are welcome to attend and participate. If you have an item for review or approval by the Planning Board, please contact the Planning Department at the information listed below.
Recreation Advisory - The Parks & Recreation Department Rec. Advisory Board meets consists of individuals who have a fundamental belief, understanding and interest in recreation as a vital force in the community. The committees' responsibilities are to support, assist and evaluate the current and future needs of the community in terms of programs, facilities, and services, and the development of plans to meet those needs.
Run of River Committee - Resuscitating Skowhegan's Kennebec Gorge into an Outdoor Destination, featuring hiking trails, improved river access, a cleaner riverbed and a Whitewater Park. The Committee meets the first Thursday of each month. This is a public meeting and citizens are welcome to attend and participate.

Skowhegan Economic Development Corp. - The SEDC Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month. This is a public meeting and citizens are welcome to attend. The Board is working to improve the Economic conditions in the Town of Skowhegan. They manage the Northgate Industrial Park and the New Southgate Industrial Park and will be managing the new Sterns building in the Downtown. Loan programs are review by the board on an ongoing basis.

Voter Registration Appeals Board - In a city or town that has a population of 5,000 or more, if a person is aggrieved by the decision of the registrar of voters to remove a name from the voting list or to refuse to place it on the voting list, that person may appeal in writing to the registration appeals board. The board consists of 3 members who must be appointed as follows: The municipal committee of each of the major political parties shall nominate one member, who must be enrolled in the party of the municipal committee that nominates the member, and the municipal officers shall appoint the persons nominated by the municipal committees and the 3rd member must be nominated by the clerk of the municipality and appointed by the municipal officers.
