Q. Is there grant money available for businesses?
A. In most case there is no grant funds available for businesses, except for CDBG grants and these work with companies that are creating a minimum of 10 jobs and is applying for at least $100,000. These can be applied for through this office.
Q. I am looking to start a business, what should I do first?
A. The first thing to do is put together a business plan, there is free help at the Small Business development Center at KVCOG in Fairfield.You can reach them at trw@ceimaine.org or (207) 453-4258.
Q. I have a elderly friend that needs some home repairs, what is available?
A. The Town has revolving loan funds that are available. If the person is low or moderate income, we will work with them to get the repairs taken care of. These funds will either be low interest or no interest and payments can be defer depending on income and age.
Q. What area is business and housing repair loans available?
A. Any person or business in the town of Skowhegan.
Q. Is there a Pine Tree Zone in Skowhegan?
A. There are three zones in Skowhegan, with the possibility of others as needed. Contact the office at 207-474-6905 for more information.
