The mission of the Economic & Community Development Office is to improve the economy and housing conditions for all citizens of Skowhegan. We accomplish this goal by introducing and supporting a wide range of local projects and initiatives, such as housing projects, industrial parks and financial and tax assistance for local small businesses.

Northgate Industrial Park

Northgate Industrial Park

The Northgate Industrial Park is located on North Ave (Rt. 150) Skowhegan. The park was created in the early 70’s and all lots are occupied at this time.


Southgate Industrial Park

Southgate Industrial Park

The new park is located on Rt. 201 (Waterville Road) approximately one mile north of the SAPPI Paper Mill. Situated on a Plateau overlooking the Kennebec River, connected to Rt. 201 by a new park road, the park has separation from residential areas.

Downtown Revitalization

The Town of Skowhegan has received 2 grants from DECD, the Downtown Revitalization Grant and the Non Profit Grant. Both grants will need to be finished in the next 18 months following the sewer and water construction project in the downtown.
