Q. What are the days and hours of operation?
A. The Solid Waste Management Facility is open Tuesday – Saturday from 7am –3:45pm. (Extended summer hours April 1 – Sept. 30. Tuesday 7am – 5:45pm)
Q. Where do I purchase a permit sticker for access to the Transfer Station and how much is a permit sticker?
A. The Town Clerks office at Town Hall 225 Water St. and the cost is $ 5 each.
Q. Do I need a permit sticker to bring recyclables to the Transfer Station?
A. No. The Recycling Center will take recyclable material without a permit. The permit is needed to access the Transfer Station to discard household trash.
Q. Does the Recycling Center take waste oil from my vehicle oil changes?
A. Yes. Drop off your waste oil at the Recycling Center during business hours.
Q. What type of plastics will the Recycling Center accept?
A. The Recycling Center will accept Recycle Type 1 - PETE and Recycle Type 2 - HDPE. Please look for these symbols on the bottom of the containers, please put all other plastics in household trash.
Q. What type of glass will the Recycling Center accept?
A. The Recycling Center will accept Clear, Brown or Green glass jars only. Please remove and discard the lids in household trash before you bring the jars to the Recycling Center.
Q. Where is the Skowhegan Solid Waste Management Facility located?
A. The Facility is located at 29 Transfer Station Drive. If you travel north on Route 150 (North Avenue) take a left onto Steward Hill Road and take another left onto Transfer Station Drive.
