According to history, In 1895 the First cat show was in New York City. However it seems the title, honors, and the historical first actually belongs to Skowhegan..
In the 1860s,, the Skowhegan FaIr was holding cat shows. Farmers in the Skowhegan area would bring their cats to the annual Skowhegan Fair and brag about their skills and intelligence.
Perhaps Skowhegan should take on the title of first cat show in the country, promote the historical first title for the Town of Skowhegan,Maine and rekindle cat shows at the Fair or as a separate event as a new source of tourism for Skowhegan.

In the 1860s,, the Skowhegan FaIr was holding cat shows. Farmers in the Skowhegan area would bring their cats to the annual Skowhegan Fair and brag about their skills and intelligence.

As an occasional part time educator in SAD54 i was once asked by a student who had a bucket full of enthusiasm for motorcycles, 'what kind of jobs[careers] are there for riding a motorcycle? I responded selling them, repairing them,and then took a moment to think, 'a motorcycle traffic police officer'.The students' eyes lit up to the thought of such a vocation that it made an impact on me too. But that means to leave the area to pursue such a career.
An initiative for Skowhegan?: 'a motorcycle police officer' We have thousands of vehicles traversing our often gridlock roads; commuting traffic,state and county government building traffic,vacationers to all points in Somerset County. If the State or Federal were to look at the challenges from the volume of interstate traffic the town of Skowhegan has to manage every day, perhaps a state or federal grant could be achieved to add a motorcycle officer position. A pie in the sky initiative ? maybe. [running out of characters]
